L’importanza dei colori amici / Die Wichtigkeit der freundlichen Farben / The importance of the friendly colors

Eh credetemi io ne so qualcosa.

From my point of view if we always want to be perfect it’s fundamental to have only things in our wardrobe that flatter our face and figure.

I’m sure it has happened to you all before to have worn a garment perhaps even expensive in a color you loved so much but somebody asked you: “Are you ok? You look so pale”. Perhaps you even got angry because you were in a very healthy condition and you couldn’t wait to show off your so much loved purchase.  Don’t feel bad about it in the past this occured to me a few times. In my case it was due to the fact that I used to walk in a store and buy pieces in a color that I liked but I never asked myself if the color was the right one for me. The years went by and recently with all the facilities internet offers us I came closer to the study of the colors. A lot of you have certainly read or heard about the four seasons (I don’t mean meteorology or Vivaldi) and of warm and cold colors. If you are getting interested I would suggest to do an internet research about this topic. I did it a few years ago and from then on I understood the importance of the friendly colors. After having taken a few free available internet tests I could more or less figure out to which season I belonged. But a sure answer came from my image consultant after a color analysis. I highly recommend you to go to a special trained person so that you can be assured to know for sure which is your season. I’m a winter type which means I look good in cold colors. After having done the analysis you will get a palette with your friendly colors. Here is mine.

And now you only have to look at everything in your closet and keep only the items that belong to your season. Not really easy. Don’t ask me why I know this. But for the woman who wants to always be perfect this is the first very important step to do.

  1. Seems like such a simple concept, for the most attractive clothes on YOU – make sure their color compliments your complexion and the cut flatters your figure. I’m guilty of buying pieces just because I liked their pattern or bold color—it takes a while to make this important shift in thinking. Great post!

  2. Thank you so much for taking the time to leave me a comment. Yes in theory it’s a simple concept but it’s a long journey to get there. It took me several years to realize that not all the clothing I was buying were the right color and shape. I’ve always been slim and in the 80’s and 90’s oversize was in. I looked terrible even slimmer as I already was but it was trendy. Before you can change or work on something you have to be aware of the problem. At that time my look was ok for me. It didn’t bother me. My mother for example doesn’t believe in the color theory and she wears the colors that she likes even if they don’t suit her and she’s even happy. Sometimes I buy her an item in a color that would suit her very well – but guess what – she doesn’t wear it and if I insist she gets upset. My advice to everybody is if you really want to change take your time. Don’t expect to do a drastic makeover in a few weeks. It doesn’t work. You’ve to find the right clothes for your body type which can be rather difficult depending on your figure.
